Ruritans Dedicate New Flagpole At Montgomery Ruritan Community Building

Chris O’Brian officially raised the American Flag during a dedication ceremony for the new 35-foot flagpole in front of the Montgomery Ruritan Community Building. The Ruritans chose Friday night, during the 34th Annual Turkey Trot Festival and just prior to the Trent Wellmon Show, for the flagpole dedication.

O’Brian, a decorated World War II veteran and a past president of the Montgomery Ruritan Club, was chosen to perform the honor of raising the American flag for the first time during the ceremony. The dedication ceremony coincided with Patriots Day (Sept. 11), observed the same weekend as the Turkey Trot Festival.
